What is LunchPailDefense.com?

LunchPailDefense.com is the Official site of Coach Bud Foster, Defensive Coordinator of Virginia Tech and the Lunch Pail Defense.

The name "Lunch Pail Defense" was coined in 2006 to describe a business venture based on Coach Bud Foster and his accomplishments as Defenseive Coordinator at Virginia Tech. The Web site was then created to support our ongoing efforts to support and promote three key brands: Virginia Tech football (focused on defensive content), Coach Bud Foster, and the Lunch Pail concept.

Due to Virginia Tech as well as NCAA regulations, Coach Foster does not profit nor does he accept monetary or other privileges from LunchPailDefense.com. Please read our Mission statement below for more details of the relationship between LPD and Coach Foster. LPD represents and promotes information for and about Coach Foster due to a demand for that information. LunchPailDefense.com is an information-only web site, whereas content is free of charge and cash flow is generated to help the business "Lunch Pail Defense" sustain itself and Bud's goals of community involvement.

Virginia Tech alumni, students, football enthusiasts and Hokie Nation everywhere.

Mission

The Mission of LunchPailDefense.com is twofold:

  • To create an ongoing, collaborative Online resource for knowledge of Virginia Tech Football, specifically defensively-focused content. The “Lunch Pail Defense” concept encompasses Coach Foster’s vision of the “go-to-work” attitude his defense carries to the field. LunchPailDefense.com, or LPD, will carry this vision in its Online efforts to promote this brand and help to ever-grow “Hokie Nation.”
  • To support and promote Coach Foster's ultimate goals of giving back to the community of which he has been well supported by, and been part of, during his 21+ years here with Virginia Tech. One of our goals is to give Bud additional opportunitites to reach the surrounding areas and communities in and around Blacksburg, Virginia.

The purpose for Bud's enthusiasm and participation in this business is worth noting:

  1. Defensive unit: We all see an inadequacy of information about this defensive unit. These kids and coaches deserve the extra attention, and Hokie Nation and other football enthusiasts are asking for more details.
    • #1 Defense in the nation - 2 yrs in a row
    • #1 Coordinator in the nation - 2006 Broyles Award Winner
  2. Community: We support and promote Bud's ultimate goals of giving back to the community of which he's been a part of for 20+ years. Proceeds from our sales have been donated to local charities, businesses and organizations that Bud wishes.
    • Community Gifts - The LPD takes all opportunities seriously to give back to the community. Since 2006, we have donated our time, proceeds, leadership and merchandise to help many great causes; including volunteering and merchandise for community raffles and auctions.
    • Lunch Pail Defense Scholarship fund - We are currently looking into launching the 2008 Lunch Pail Defense Scholarship fund to aide local kids with college tuition, a non-athletic scholarship. These are win-win situations and excellent community-building opportunities.
  3. VT Image: Help the continuing trend of promoting the positive aspects of VT athletics on and off the field. The coaching staff is dedicated to attracting, recruiting, and promoting quality individuals to participate and represent the athletes in Virginia Tech football.

Tactics

The LunchPailDefense.com team utilizes Coach Foster for in depth information about our defensive unit. Coach also updates a blog each week for information about game reviews, upcoming opponent reviews, schedules and lunch pail stories. Commerce

LPD currently achieves operating expenses/profits through:

  • Sponsorship – LPD sponsorship is the primary means of income. Current and potential LPD sponsors provide the operating expenses through trusted relationships with the LunchPailDefense.com team. In return, the LPD sponsors receive Online recognition, advertisements and links to their own Online content, as well as promotional LPD merchandise, such an autographed lunch pail, tshirts, decals, and even Coach Foster appearances on site, at special events and more.
